How Emerging Artists Found Their Sweet Spot For a Good Cause

“Treat others better. And treat yourself.” This is the driving mission behind Treat Gallery, an online-based gallery that helps give contemporary artists more exposure. Every quarter, the Treat team organizes pop-up exhibitions that not only support emerging artists, but also benefit a cause of their choosing.

After their most recent pop-up, “What’s your Sweet Spot?” Treat Gallery donated 30% of the proceeds to End to Cyber Bullying, a nonprofit whose goal is to create an online community free of negativity. We talked to Sherri Littlefield, the exhibition curator about why they chose this non-profit, saying, “We’re all about treating others better, and this was a perfect cause to promote that.”

When choosing a space for the pop-up, Sherri wanted a venue conveniently located with all the essentials: wifi, a sound system, and a fridge for wine and beer (of course). She booked this historical gallery space in Carroll Gardens, the art and cultural neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. Since Treat Gallery’s main focus is to support the local community, Sherri said her favorite part of the evening was seeing how excited the exhibiting artists were, since this was the first time many of them had showcased their work in New York.
